Marine Wildlife Excursions
Because of the pristine location of Los Leones located right on the Pacific Ocean you can have a guaranteed adventurous excursion. A local guide will take you out on a boat to the homes of sea lions. In route to the home of the sea lions it is very probable that you see penguins and dolphins, and possibly blue whales.
Fishing
For fishing in these rivers the guides recommend six-or seven-weight rods with a floating line, 1X tippet for streamers and 3X for dry flies. Dry-fly patterns include Chernobyl ants, stimulators, and Chile has some very unusual bugs such as a 2” stonefly, giant crickets, and something called a stranher derpanicus gayi. Patterns used imitate a small fish called Puye which the sea run browns and steelhead feed on. Minnows are also used as well as streamers in white, silver plate, black, violet and yellow, which can be very effective. Most of the fishing is done by wading for trout in the 16” to 30” range weighing from 4 to 9 pounds.
Kayaking
Los Leones is well equipped with new kayaks that can be used for adventuring through the many waters surrounding the lodge.
Natural Hot Springs
Just a boat ride away lies a variety of natural hot springs lined with comfortable homemade log benches for relaxing. Paths and bridges have been constructed that will take you to the springs hidden in the jungle of Chile.
ATV's and boats
The lodge has 4 ATV's and one nice speed boat.
Volcano Site-Seeing
In the distance two volcanoes can be seen, the Michin Mahuida and Melimoyu. In boat, you may be taken to a spectacular view of these two ancient volcanoes.
